Microspheres

Spheres are reminiscent of cells, the minuscule building blocks that form the human body. This exhibition concept emerged from interactions with the Histopathology Laboratory of IRB Barcelona (Institute of Research in Biomedicine).

Scientists examined samples from healthy and unhealthy tissues — liver, eye, skin, lung — under microscopes. The exhibition focuses on visually distinctive tissue forms, adapted into large-scale stained glass paintings. The work makes invisible human cell structures visible, inviting audiences to experience cells at large scale using daylight.

The site-specific installation was held in the Operation Room of Recinte Modernista Sant Pau. Paintings were positioned against large windows, representing contemporary stained glass art aligned with Catalan Modernist spirit — luminous and bright, relying on daylight. Colors shift based on external light intensity.
